Timanfaya, declared in 1974, represents the best natural systems of volcanic origin of the Macaronésica region, and has its origin in the eruptions happened during centuries XVIII and XIX. Between 1730 and 1736 the more important eruptive episodes of the contemporary history of the humanity occurred, by their duration and its dimension. The last eruptive episode took place in 1824, and their destructive power still is vestiges as they are the geothermal anomalies, being reached temperatures of up to 610 ºC to 13 meters of depth. In the National Park of Timanfaya the ecological processes of colonization and biological succession take place.
